A Cat's Progress
Jun. 24th, 2008 10:01 pmSo tonight I was doing another fabric surgery, this time on a well-established and chronically retracted cord (of several years' duration); this was a potentially dangerous surgery as there might have been fibrosis and adhesions that prevented successful extraction. As it was, I ended up making several incisions (small and will be sutured closed), but I did finally break it free of the attachments and restore it to anatomical accuracy. I was assisted by two able Feline Surgeons, first Brady (who helped me select the surgical sites and advised me to be aggressive in my dissection), and then Buzz, who selected additional instruments for my use, and maintained control of the distal end during retraction.
In the midst of my surgery, Brady decided to rest by my hip for a bit, as this was a technically demanding procedure. Buzz then flopped down right next to him -- the first such sighting of cat-x-cat reclining for these two! At several points, it almost looked like Brady was going to lick Buzz. Later, after the sweatpants were in the recovery room, and I was heading out to feed the cats, Buzz and Kedgie passed in opposite directions, practically touching, with no hissing. I was amazed.
The dogs got into the dry food storage bin that houses Buzz's special DM food, and finished off the bag. There's another bag in another storage bin, but gosh darnit, they don't need to be doing that. I decided they didn't need their own dinner in that case, and had Sonny take them for a nice walk instead.
