The dogs are now home (and SO HAPPEE!), which has Kedgie somewhat disgruntled, because she had gotten used to the nice quiet house. Athena has safely licked Brady, and wisely not attempted any such liberties with the Kedgie Princess.

Honey and Sonny went off to meet her sister for a bit of dinner, and I have been surfing from the couch, drinking tea, semi-watching medical shows, and relaxing.

Soon, it will be feeding time.

Happy Quiet Sunday, kiddo...I always enjoy those. They're even better with a Cubs game on the tube.

Tea works as a compatible substitute for the Cubs game. :-)

Heh..I like the medical shows, especially the ones where I get to figure out the diagnosis (like mystery diagnosis) and some of the police shows, like "First 48". I changed the channel after Honey left, from the Nationals v Blue Jays to "Trauma: Life in the ER". Much better.

I love watching House reruns on USA (hey, they're first-run to us), but Spouse, who has no medical training whatsoever, manages to guess the diagnosis correctly about half the time. I just watch it because I like Hugh Laurie's cantankerousness.

Spouse also loves all the incarnations of Law and Order, while the rather sordid storylines of it, CI and SVU just depress the hell out of me. She also has a tropism toward murder investigation and serial killer docs on what used to be Court TV. They just depress me, and force me to put the earbuds in and listen to Pandora. Much better, indeed.

House himself is sorta realistic, but the show is badly written. I hate watching them lurch from one HOT IDEA (eleventy!!) to the next one. And it's always a choice between fatal and more fatal...which is not so.

Law and Order was good, but CI and SVU are too intense. Spouse would probably like The First 48 on A&E, so if you get that channel, I highly recommend that show. It's not too intense, and it's documentary style -- the cameras follow real homicide detectives -- but tasteful.

Remember when A&E had actual arts? Good times.

There is an A&E channel now, but it's called Ovation. Once they get some variety and more bang in their menu, rather than broadcasting one program ad nauseum through the evening, they're gonna be very good.

Hey, if "The First 48" does without the smarmy narration of the Court TV shows, I'm all for it. :-)

All I watch House for any more is to see what he can get away with. Oh, and for Thirteen. Yum.

I like Dr. G, for more than her medical acumen. Anyway! If you go to aetv.com and search through the crap that they call "shows", you'll find "The First 48". Then you have to get it on your tv schedule.

Good. Leaves Thirteen for me.

Um...who's Dr. G?

She's a medical examiner in Florida, covering Orlando and all of Orange County. She's got her own show on Discovery Health (sometimes also rerun on TLC) called "Dr. G". Her bedside manner is way better than some of the other docs on the other shows, but then again, she's in no rush. Her patients have all the time in the world. ;-)

She also explains things well to non-medical persons. I just like trying to figure out what the cause of death is before they reveal it.

First 48 (http://www.aetv.com/the_first_48/) -- here you go. Can't do this linky thingie on my iPod, so it had to wait until dinner was done and I could sit down at the desktop.
