Patrick O'Brien was ok, but I think CS Lewis was far better..and I just re-read all my Hornblower books (as a diversion while I was sick, a very good way to keep one's mind off one's coughing), so it was a familiar world. Ushant! Bonaparte! Only...with dragons!! -- and not the soft-n-cuddly Anne McCaffrey dragons, although those were nice in their day.
