Been busy

..still am busy, but time to post, so here goes.

About two weeks ago, I gave blood as I do. They call me as soon as the 8 weeks are up, and I usually go right in to donate. This time, when he scanned my card, he put a "special" card with my papers. After I'd answered the questionnaire and the nurse came in to take the vitals, she asked if a student/trainee could sit in. Of course, I said yes, and I'm glad because the nurse started explaining everything, including the "special" card. Apparently it meant that I matched a patient in hospital, although not necessarily for the usual reasons (i.e., not just being O+ or CMV-, etc.). That made me feel..well, special.

The kittens continue to do well, with added climbing and running around now. Momma cat likes to hide or come at me hissing. Neither is a good habit, really. The little ones get scared when she hisses, so I try not to let her do that.

I went up to visit the parental units last weekend, without the Sonny who was instead claimed by the Ex for a reunion on her mom's side. I had a good time, although it was a very short trip. Friday was the Ex's birthday, and I had the Sonny, so we took her to dinner and gave her some presents that he picked out. I gave her a card from us that said "It's your day.../Happy Birthday" -- it was the least I could do. I went up north on Saturday and came home on Sunday.

Shortly after that trip up, I repacked my bags and drove south to Atlanta for a meeting. That one's just finished, and the second one is yet to start, so I'm sitting in a hotel near Centennial Park, perusing the internets. I had a lovely day hanging out with a colleague, having lunch in a diner somewhere in Atlanta on our way downtown, walking to the convention center to pick up our badges and freebies, and just chatting about things.

Tomorrow, with any luck, I'll get in touch with my cousin who lives here and with fledgist. Social activities will be planned and carried out. The meeting starts really picking up on Monday, and by then the Canadians ought to be in town and ready to roll.

My walk this morning was not bad at all; shopping was committed as well, and I now have a GT hat for my collection. It's the only hat with my initials. :-)

Peachtree Street, plain. The one that turns into Peachtree Road, which then turns into Peachtree Industrial Boulevard. From 1998 until 2007, I lived within one block of one of the latter two (in Norcross, Buckhead, and Brookhaven).

Was the Centennial Park fountain on?

As Lila will tell you you won't be able to wear that cap in Athens.

Yes, I found it, right there on Peachtree. Yes, the fountains have been on, with hordes of little kids having fun. Don't worry; I have no plans to wear a GT hat anywhere "inappropriate". ;-)

I'll phone around midday tomorrow (caeteris paribus) to arrange a meeting time for tomorrow afternoon. Since Gail's the one who drives, a lot of the coördination is going to be up to her (i.e., whether you get picked up first or second).

I've been meaning to post, but I've been busy with the littles, the not-so-little ones, travel, and work..then suddenly I realize I haven't posted in a while.
