Productive Day Off, and some Star Trek

At last, a day off! Even though the sore throat did indeed turn into a cold, another dratted cold, which has by now moved down into the chest where they all seem vacation, today was still a decent day.
After sleeping in just a little bit longer -- not too much, as Kedgie was worrying about breakfast -- I got up and fed the animals, collected the garbage into the cans, heated a cuppa coffee for Honey, and a cuppa tea for myself, and got back into bed. I let her and Sonny deal with the garbage can delivery to the roadside. I had a nice relaxing morning of reading the newspaper, and a bit of tea.
They went off to the Scout Flower Sale, and I went on various errands, starting with the hardware store to find ant bait, extra-strong glue, and a speciality light bulb for the range (the underside of the microwave). I thought I was being smart in carrying the old bulb, to match the two pins, only we discovered that these new pins are thickerer than the old ones, so the new bulbs do not quite fit in. The owner's manual is less helpful than usual.
I went off to the mall to shop for a new cell phone. My trusty old pre-pay Kyocera KX414 had recently taken a dive into a water bowl (it vibrated off a table) and consequently fried itself. Time for a new one, alas. I upgraded my number to a new phone, sans camera, but with a monthly charge plan -- I got a good discount because of my employer -- and then bought a pre-pay for the Sonny. This is not a dorky looking phone, and is on the same network, so calls to us will be essentially free (except for the "daily access fee"). This is good. He is happy to have a new phone, and we shall see how well he does with it. He didn't lose the firefly phone, which is a good indicator.
Came home and set out the ant bait, fed the animals again, and we are now watching "The Man Trap". Ah, cheesy old Star Trek sets! How I love you!
The flower has just shrieked at Green. Sentient space flowers! I love you too!
