Passing on
Someone I'd never met in real life, but who found me through her friends-list and then friended me,
meglimir, is now dying. Her husband posted here. She'd been fighting cancer for a good long time, and recently the cancer started winning.
Ruby Meg, Mama Bear, rescuer of dogs, fighter, mother, partner, and all around good person: may your passing be eased by the knowing and the love of the people around you. You've made a mark on this world, an indelible entry into our memories. Every dog who is rescued will remind us of you. Every new posting on APOD, every good pun, every strong hot cuppa will remind us of you, in a good way, with smiles and happy thoughts.
And when you get to the Grey Havens, put your feet up by the fire, listen to Bilbo's songs, and think fondly of us. We'll catch up.

There was a song by the Flirtations (when they were down to three), which said "The true measure of your words and your deeds/Will be the love you leave behind/When you're gone". (My partner loves that song so much, she would like to have it sung at her funeral. It's one of those songs that makes her cry, but she loves it.) I think
