Passing on

Someone I'd never met in real life, but who found me through her friends-list and then friended me, [livejournal.com profile] meglimir, is now dying. Her husband posted here. She'd been fighting cancer for a good long time, and recently the cancer started winning.

Ruby Meg, Mama Bear, rescuer of dogs, fighter, mother, partner, and all around good person: may your passing be eased by the knowing and the love of the people around you. You've made a mark on this world, an indelible entry into our memories. Every dog who is rescued will remind us of you. Every new posting on APOD, every good pun, every strong hot cuppa will remind us of you, in a good way, with smiles and happy thoughts.

And when you get to the Grey Havens, put your feet up by the fire, listen to Bilbo's songs, and think fondly of us. We'll catch up.

I'm so sorry, kiddo. Losing a friend always sucks and never gets easier.

..but I've already stolen eaten your PBRK, thanking you kindly. I do need that tea to wash 'em down.

Yeah, even online, friends are important and losing one sucks. I hope she has a chance to read or hear all the posts on her husband's LJ -- she deserves to know how many people think well of her.

I read them all--seven pages and counting, and yours, too--and there was no way I could keep the tears from rolling down my face after just finishing Page #2. I was deeply moved by this show of support...and I don't know these people in the least.

If I had to go, knowing I had this many friends, it would make things a lot easier.

You didn't hafta steal them...I know you likes 'em, so I gives 'em to you any time you wants 'em. :-)

Naw, these were all wrapped up, with somebody's name on 'em..lessee.."kaynetukumute". Who the heck has a name like that?

Good people find other good people. You stick with me, kiddo, and you'll have a buncha LJ friends too. ;-)

You had me when you first called me 'bubbeleh'. :-)

I know a number of people who know her. She sounds like a wonderful person.

I saw your comment over there -- I'm not totally surprised to see names I recognize, as we had a lot of similar interests.

There was a song by the Flirtations (when they were down to three), which said "The true measure of your words and your deeds/Will be the love you leave behind/When you're gone". (My partner loves that song so much, she would like to have it sung at her funeral. It's one of those songs that makes her cry, but she loves it.) I think [livejournal.com profile] meglimir demonstrates that concept.

It certainly seems like it. [livejournal.com profile] lizzibabe headed down today to be with her; she left me her notes on the book we discussed.

I love that song, too!

I copied that album onto the hard drive, so I have MP3 of it -- if you would like a copy, let me know and I'll put it somewhere for you.

Got it. You have an iPod? If not, then I'll rip it to a disk or email it or something like that.

I just play from the computer (I have great speakers & subwoofer that I can connect to the new computer, too!) so emailing would be great.

Check your email and let me know if the file was too large to come through.

No, it zipped right on. Thanks!

It was my pleasure!
